Tasnima Iqbal

Tasnima is a development practitioner with a focus on communication and storytelling. She started off as a business graduate and worked in a leading telecommunication company and a marketing agency, then finally settled in the development sector. She pursued her MSc in Social and Public Communication from London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE) by receiving the Prime Minister's fellowship awarded to strengthen Bangladesh’s capacity to achieve the SDG. She is currently working to ensure Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights (SRHR) and Comprehensive Sexuality Education (CSE) for Bangladeshi youth in Right Here Right Now (RHRN2) project under SELP programme at BRAC.

Village cooperatives addressing COVID-19: Stories from the gas-field regions of greater Sylhet

Cooperative societies are the major wheel turners of the rural economy in Bangladesh. With 3,998 members, 110 village development organisations have been established around the gas-field areas of Sylhet, Moulvibazar and Habiganj districts of Bangladesh. These cooperatives, formed to enhance the socio-economic conditions of its members, are registered with the government’s Department of Cooperatives, supported by the Jibika project in collaboration with BRAC and Chevron.
