Valuing water: Where are we, and what do we stand to gain?

World Water Day is observed every year on 22 March. Around the world, 2.2 billion people live without access to safe water, and this day is about raising awareness and taking action to tackle the global water crisis. The theme this year is valuing water. A core focus of the day is to support the achievement of the sixth Sustainable Development Goal: Water and Sanitation for All by 2030.

Can students themselves fight the water crisis in rural schools?

A few months ago, Thaingkhali High School in south-eastern Bangladesh had neither safe water supply nor adequate facilities for handwashing. Without safe water in the school premises during the dry season, students felt dehydrated, becoming sleepy and unable to concentrate during lessons.

Boroitoli: A strange picture of sanitation

I would like to share the peculiar sanitation situation in Boroitoli, a hilly village in an extremely hard-to-reach area of Fatikchari sub-district of Chittagong, Bangladesh. We visited this village earlier this year to observe the existing conditions of water, sanitation and hygiene.
