Alpona Joyontee Kujur works as a Deputy Manager, Capacity building and Community empowerment in Brac Integrated Development Programme. Before joining this position, she played role in communication and documentation in Integrated Development Programme. Ms Kujur has over 12 years of experience of working in development sector. Her expertise includes community led development, Curriculum and material development, Capacity building, Advocacy and Networking, partnership management, project management etc. Ms Kujur has master’s degree in English Language and Literature from National University.
Northern Bangladesh is home to 80% of the country's indigenous population. More than 18 languages are spoken by members of these indigenous communities upholding their rich culture, long practised heritage and colourful way of life. This diversity also lends itself as a factor in attaining universal acceptability for indigenous leaders which has historically led to a dearth of formal indigenous leaders.
