Aarong – An Inspiring Story of Stitches

A throng of village children, led by a boy in a blue shirt, follow me as I walk over the narrow ledge separating two rice paddy fields, and make my way over to a small production sub-center located in a remote rural area in Bangladesh.Being Indian by birth, I have similar coloration and features as a Bangladeshi but the children seem to know that I am not from their part of the world. I think that my slightly off-Bangladeshi garb, my water bottle and camera give me away.

A visit to BRAC’s Limb and Brace Centre

Last month, I had the opportunity to visit the BRAC Limb & Brace Centre, one of BRAC's social enterprises. The Limb & Brace Centre makes and fits artificial limbs and braces and also provides physical therapy and rehabilitation. Services are provided on a tiered payment plan - so patients pay only what they can afford for the treatment they need, and the Centre still makes a profit, which is invested back into BRAC's programs.

World Bank Vice President visits BRAC Schools

The World Bank's Vice President for South Asia Region Ms. Isabel Guerrero and country head Mr. Xian Zhu visited a BRAC school earlier this month and met with BRAC Chairperson and founder Fazle Hasan Abed.
